One of the keystones of living in Denver is enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. This is true for dogs as well, but it can present a problem for those who live in condos and lofts. Many buildings will not allow dogs, so finding a condo and loft that will provide an exercise area for a "best friend" can be a challenge. There are condos and lofts in the Denver metro area that do accept dogs, whether its in Cheesman Park, Capitol Hill, Auraria, Downtown or the Riverfront area.
Ballpark Neighborhood
The area around Coors Field has several good choices for a condo that are dog-friendly. Blake Street is a well-located spot, close to the ballpark and all of the great nightspots in LoDo. Many of the developers in this historic neighborhood have chosen to restore original buildings so that they have retained the look of old Denver, with red brick exteriors and plenty of wood inside. Blake Street in particular is a popular spot for condo and loft owners with dogs and their masters will be very happy being able to walk four blocks to catch a Rockies home game.
LoDo
The streets angling away from the heart of downtown Denver have been a choice spot for condos and lofts. Having such easy access to business and pleasure locations downtown is just one positive feature of these neighborhoods. Wynkoop is one street that has several good choices available in condos and lofts that allow dogs and many of the units have been remodeled with exposed beams and quality hardwood floors. As with so many of the newer lofts and condos, high-tech security and reserved parking comes with the great views from the balcony.
Cherry Creek
This well-known district has been one of the elite neighborhoods of Denver from the beginning, with a number of parks, top-drawer retail establishments and Cherry Creek Country Club highlighting the joy of living here. Because of this history, many of the lofts and condos are top-of-the-line, with the ultimate in kitchen designs, entertainment technology and security features that one would expect.
Lowry Area
This location saw a boom of development when the air force base closed down and is now one of the best areas to find a condo or a loft that allows dogs. There are a variety of floor plans to suit any taste, some with a more traditional home look and some with an ultra-modern feel. The area is also nicely located for its proximity to major routes to access Denver International Airport and downtown.
Central Platte Valley
And who could forget what may be the most dog friendly neighborhood of all... Riverfront Park. Surrounding Commons Park the Riverfront area has ample green space for taking your favorite pup on a nice walk and the bike/walking tralis connect at confluence park in all directions to allow for a long automobile free path. In the works currently is also the Riverfront Park off leash dog park and they are still taking donations if you would like to dedicated a brick or a bench to your favorite best friend.
Another emerging trend in Denver condos and lofts across the city is to add dog park space into the building or on the property. SPIRE is a perfect example with a small dog park on the 3rd floor so residents don't even have to leave the buliding on a cold and snowy night. Denver is certainly leading the way for dog friendly condo living.
