From the Zombie Walk On 16th Street to The Great American Beer Festival Downtown Denver Traditions You Wont Want to Miss!

On top of being a city rich with prime loft and condo real estate, Denver is also a city rich with tradition. From the funky to the classics, Denver has it all. Downtown Denver is a cultural melting pot and often the host of some of the most beloved, and sometimes farthest out there, Denver traditions. From the Zombie Walk on 16th Street to the Great American Beer Festival- there is a lot in Downtown Denver worth getting out of your condo for.

Leave your Loft in Search of Brains during the Zombie Walk on 16th Street

The Zombie Walk, held in October around Halloween, is a night for all zombie enthusiasts to deck out like the undead and crawl down 16th Street. On top of the walk there are also costume contests for kids and adults, live music, and the Thriller dance off. This event is kid friendly. Just remember to be respectful of the local businesses (especially those real estate offices) and dont get any blood on the buildings.

See the Nations Best Street Performers at Denvers International Buskerfest

The Denver International Buskerfest draws in street performers from all over the nation. Held in Downtown Denver during the last weekend in June you can see everything from musicians, to acrobats, to fire eaters. The International Buskerfest offers something different everyday, so plan on spending the whole weekend.

Celebrate the Luck of the Irish during the Saint Patricks Day Parade

Regarded as one of the biggest St. Patricks Day parades, the Denver St. Paddys Day parade is not one to be watched from your loft windows. The parade makes a loop through the Lobo District so get down there and join in on the fun. The floats, marching bands, step dancers and performers will bring out the Irish in anyone.

Sample Beer after Beer at Denver's Great American Beer Festival

If your real estate purchase got you a condo near the Beer Garden and Food Marketplace in Downtown Denver you might want to start preparing now for that crawl back to your condo in September. Denvers Great American Beer Festival features over 1,600 kinds of beer, all ripe for the sampling.

Once youve picked out your piece of condo real estate, it is time to get in on the action. Downtown Denver is a cultural hotspot, and a truly fun-loving neighborhood. There is always something exciting going on downtown.

And of course this weekend offers one of the great downtown Denver traditions with the 48th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.  As a sign that spring is in the air and the weather is getting warmer this event is a great excuse to watch the parade festivities, enjoy a green beverage of your choice, and take in a Denver Saturday at any of the many outdoor patios that will be dusting off their patio furniture and beginning to embrace the beautiful Denver weather.

Fido Wants A Walk? Best Places for Denvers Loft and Condo Dogs!

One of the keystones of living in Denver is enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. This is true for dogs as well, but it can present a problem for those who live in condos and lofts. Many buildings will not allow dogs, so finding a condo and loft that will provide an exercise area for a "best friend" can be a challenge. There are condos and lofts in the Denver metro area that do accept dogs, whether its in Cheesman Park, Capitol Hill, Auraria, Downtown or the Riverfront area.

Ballpark Neighborhood

The area around Coors Field has several good choices for a condo that are dog-friendly. Blake Street is a well-located spot, close to the ballpark and all of the great nightspots in LoDo. Many of the developers in this historic neighborhood have chosen to restore original buildings so that they have retained the look of old Denver, with red brick exteriors and plenty of wood inside. Blake Street in particular is a popular spot for condo and loft owners with dogs and their masters will be very happy being able to walk four blocks to catch a Rockies home game.

LoDo

The streets angling away from the heart of downtown Denver have been a choice spot for condos and lofts. Having such easy access to business and pleasure locations downtown is just one positive feature of these neighborhoods. Wynkoop is one street that has several good choices available in condos and lofts that allow dogs and many of the units have been remodeled with exposed beams and quality hardwood floors. As with so many of the newer lofts and condos, high-tech security and reserved parking comes with the great views from the balcony.

Cherry Creek

This well-known district has been one of the elite neighborhoods of Denver from the beginning, with a number of parks, top-drawer retail establishments and Cherry Creek Country Club highlighting the joy of living here. Because of this history, many of the lofts and condos are top-of-the-line, with the ultimate in kitchen designs, entertainment technology and security features that one would expect.

Lowry Area

This location saw a boom of development when the air force base closed down and is now one of the best areas to find a condo or a loft that allows dogs. There are a variety of floor plans to suit any taste, some with a more traditional home look and some with an ultra-modern feel. The area is also nicely located for its proximity to major routes to access Denver International Airport and downtown.

Central Platte Valley

And who could forget what may be the most dog friendly neighborhood of all... Riverfront Park.  Surrounding Commons Park the Riverfront area has ample green space for taking your favorite pup on a nice walk and the bike/walking tralis connect at confluence park in all directions to allow for a long automobile free path.  In the works currently is also the Riverfront Park off leash dog park and they are still taking donations if you would like to dedicated a brick or a bench to your favorite best friend.

Another emerging trend in Denver condos and lofts across the city is to add dog park space into the building or on the property.  SPIRE is a perfect example with a small dog park on the 3rd floor so residents don't even have to leave the buliding on a cold and snowy night.  Denver is certainly leading the way for dog friendly condo living.

The Best Sushi Spots for Denver's Loft and Condo Dwellers

Is Sushi Your Thing? The 5 Best Sushi Places for Denvers Loft and Condo Dwellers

Denver and Sushi, it's not exactly the first thing you think of when picturing our wonderful city far from any beach or ocean.  But in today's world it's all about airplanes and airports.  In San Francisco, New York City, or even the tropical island of Hawaii folks may be eating the same salmon, tuna, uni, or fresh water eel that flew in earlier that day.  It is a global economy.  So does that mean that we can have some of the best Sushi restaurants in the country... yes it does.  And a number of locals who travel the world would agree that we have some great sushi chefs who can hold their own against anyone anywhere.

So if Sushi is your thing then the urban experience in the City of Denver living will hit the spot. Of the many sushi restaurants within walking distance from the many new lofts for sale in downtown Denver and its many neighborhoods there are a many with a perfect blend of creativity and tradition.  With so many to choose from you may just have to try them all.

If your condo is in Park Meadows, Sonodas Sushi - www.sonodassushi.com - is the first place to try. East of Auraria Parkway on Market Street, Sonodas Sushi is one of 4 and the closest to the central business district for the Downtown Denver loft dweller. They are also found in Aurora and at 6th and Broadway.  If you already own a loft in Cheesman Park or a condo in the Golden Triangle, then Tokyo Joe's Capital Hill restaurant - www.tokyojoes.com - on Grant west of the Denver Zoo is the place to have your sushi and feed the kids too! This Colorado fixture has sushi made to order but even more importantly they have the most delicious noodle bowls with hearty umami flavors. Mahi, organic pork and eel are just a few of the unique meats available for those interested in a hot dish to warm you up before searching for that perfect loft in Capitol Hill.  True sushi savants will want to go further north to Denver's Five Points area near Curtis Park for the real thing with a twist. Sushi Han - www.sushihanrestaurant.com - on Larimer comes to mind for a sushi experience with variety. Five Points has many restaurants ranging from Mexican to Ethiopian and plenty of sushi places like the famous Sushi Den - www.sushiden.net - on Pearl to the reasonable Sushi Han - www.sushihanrestaurant.com. The head chef and owner, Richard Sandoval, says his restaurant has a Latin-Asian focus which equals delicious.  And while in the Central Platte Valley you would be missing out if you didn't try sushi sasa which consistently gets voted the locals favorite.

Heading east towards Lowry and Stapleton before Aurora, one must stop at Banzai Sushi - www.100rolls.com - for the widest choice of sushi ever;there are over 100 sushi rolls to choose from! Celebrating the Denver Sports Lifestyle

Urban planners in Denver certainly did a number of things right.  There is an incredible biking and trail system throughout the city.  The Theater district in the heart of downtown puts your seat to Broadway Shows, Dance, Opera, and even Improv Comedy all within a few blocks.  But compared to most other cities, Denver scored an A+ in keeping their sporting events convenient for Denver condo and loft residents.

That become a cornerstone for the many amenities of the Downtown Denver lifestyle.  Today the rebounding Broncos are filling up Invesco field, the Nuggets and Avalanche are kicking off their promising seasons, and the Rockies just wrapped up an admirable drive to the series.  The thrill of the game for Denver is all within a few city blocks.  No other city may claim to have such a centrally planned powerhouse of fun and excitement for its residents.  And many don't realize how great of an asset it is for city living.

It's about rooting on your local heroes.  It's about connecting and laughing with friends as you share the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.  And it's about an experience and sharing it with your friends, neighbors, and in part the entire city.

The experience is about walking out your front door and walking with friends to the ballpark, stadium or rink and settling into your seat for a personal experience.  It's about sharing a hot dog, a beverage, and cheer.  Denver residents might follow this experience with more celebration (or commiserating, we don't always win) while sharing dinner at any of the fabulous downtown restaurants or a beverage at one of the many Denver pubs.

For Denver condo and loft owners, this wonderful experience takes place in their urban playground.  With three of the four of our sports teams defending our cities honor this seemed the appropriate post to give kudos to our home team heroes and the fans that support them.  We hope to see you at the game.  If you are interested in learning more about condos and lofts in the heart of this great lifestyle please give us a call at x303.521.6262 or email us at agents@mynewera.com.

So as we go into the heart of Denver's season of sports... Go Broncos, Go Avs, Go Nuggets and thank you Rockies, we'll see you again in the Spring.
